Mao Xuhui Solo Exhibition
The solo exhibition of Chinese Avant-Garde icon titled ‘Nature.Fold.Blasphemy’ is curated by the internationally renowned curator, Lu Ming Jun. This is the artist’s first exhibition in Singapore since 1997.
Organised by Linda Gallery, Mao Xuhui’s Solo exhibition opens on 6 September 2013 at MoCA@Loewen.
Famous for his iconic series of chairs and scissors, Mao Xuhui is back with a three-part Solo exhibition featuring 18 to 20 new works dated 2008 to 2012. The works are segmented into three parts; Part I Nature: ‘Return to Guishan’ series, Part II Fold: ‘Scenery’ series and Part III Blasphemy: ‘Daily Life in Kunming’ series. The series revisits the iconic symbols that made him a famous avant-garde artist and is a reflection of the artist’s own evolution in perspective.
“During the 20th Century, in 1990s, Mao Xuhui pays attention to the object and not the background of his painting.” Wang Lin, Sichuan Fine Arts
